New “Privacy” Law: Your Viewing History Is Public

The Senate quietly altered a key privacy law that lets video streaming services ask for your permission only once and then they can publicly share what you’re watching for 2 years. It used to be that they had to ask for your permission every time they shared that information publicly, but no more.

Netflix and Facebook spent a combined $2 million dollars during the last half of 2012 lobbying for this change and they got it. Personally, the change makes me a bit nervous. What do you think?
