The Role and Contributions of Trade Unions

The Role and Contributions of Trade Unions:
This video will examine the role and contribution of trade unions to working practises, and also to the wider workings of society.
Trade unions came into existence to improve the working lives of those engaged in the newly created factory system.
Over the years they have made contributions two improvements in everyday life and for most people in society. For example, the trade unions campaign for better retirement pensions for the elderly, make representations to the government on behalf of the very lowly paid workers and have campaigned for equal rights for female workers, and they appear to be ever vigilant regarding race issues in the workplace.
It is therefore fair to say that the trade unions still have relevance in society, even though they have managed to promote the working lives of the vast majority, they still have issues upon which to campaign.
