A flexible organisation composed of flexible, core, and subtracted workers.
Some organisations have a core workforce. By this is meant that some employees are crucial for the operation of the business. They are essential for the business to functions.
The SIM business may require other workers however this may be employed in fewer core activities. Their work is more generic by nature.
We would therefore imagine organisations or companies to be composed of essential workers, these are the core workers, and more flexible workers who perform more generic tasks. Organisations such as these are termed as Shamrock organisations.
