Searching for Extraterrestrial Intelligence | Erik Zackrisson | TEDxUppsalaUniversity

Astronomers have been scanning the skies for signals from other civilizations for more than half a century, yet no evidence for intelligent life in outer space has so far emerged. Now, they are trying out new methods in search of our cosmic neighbours. Erik Zackrisson is an associate professor in Astronomy at Uppsala University. He spends most of his time studying distant galaxies, the mysterious dark matter and the birth of black holes. He also has a keen interest in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Besides his profession, Erik likes writing fiction, hanging out in old-school video game arcades and to invent recipes for bizarrely unhealthy food together with his kids. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
