It is important that researchers use appropriate techniques when engaging in a research activity. Some distinctions should be immediately obvious. For example, primary research is in which the investigator goes to the source of the issue under investigation and examines the issue. Then there is secondary research which involves the researcher looking at previous studies and previous sources of information which have been published and then using that as a basis for the investigation. There are many issues involved in research for example bias, the sampling technique, and many others.
