You Can Change Your Personality | Nathan Hudson | TEDxKids@SMU

If you’ve ever wanted to change something about your personality, you’re not alone. Most people want to change aspects of themselves–and research suggests that they may actually be able to do so. In this actionable talk, psychology professor and researcher Nathan Hudson discusses small, concrete, evidence-based steps you can take to move closer to becoming the person you want to be. Nathan W. Hudson is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. He was born in Frederick, MD and received his PhD in Social/Personality Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016. His research focuses primarily on understanding people’s desires and attempts to change their own personality traits. He also studies people’s motives and goals in their romantic relationships. Professionally, Nathan’s ultimate goal is to understand who people want to be and what they want from their closest relationships–and to discover ways to help them move toward making those desires a reality. Outside of the lab, Nathan is an avid outdoors-man, is active in local sports leagues, and believes in living life to the fullest. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
